Athens Philharmonic International Peace Concert
The Athens Philharmonic will perform the Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on 9 May 2026, in honor of Europe Day and the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.This free broadcast event will take place live from Platres, Cyprus and is available to our broadcast partners by satellite, LiveU matrix and on NewsDirect.
Eurovision News Events are pleased to share that the European Broadcasting Union has partnered with the Athens Philharmonic to produce and distribute the International Peace Concert. This free broadcast event will take place on Europe Day, 9 May 2026, live from Platres, Cyprus and is available for free for our broadcast partners by satellite, LiveU matrix and newsdirect.ebu.ch.
Conceived and conducted by Yiannis Hadjiloizou, the concert features a broadcast-first performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. This performance carries significant symbolic weight as Cyprus provides a meaningful setting for a project centered on unity and reconciliation. The event also coincides with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
